Post sunset iridescent glow of the San Pablo Bay near my home yesterday.

This digital representation does not capture the beauty of the reality of this moment. My words do not capture the awe I experienced.

I drove along North San Pedro Road through China Camp and I had to pull over because the way I was starring at the bay wasn’t safe while driving. It was unbelievably gorgeous. It whelmed me in such a gentle, loving way.

I pull over for natural beauty often. I want to be able to fully enjoy and be present for it. It is my favorite gift to receive. At the center of my life is being present for the beauty that exists in my reality every day. I love being available to be moved by the natural world.

I once learned from mushrooms that there is no comparison between watching a screen and watching nature.

Why would I need to put so much time, money and effort into “entertainment” or “media” when I could watch a sunset or a sunrise and be so moved by the beauty of it that I carry the glow with me into the rest of the day or night.

I do not judge myself. It is a sincere inquiry about how I choose to spend my time and why.

This knowing can seem to clash with my work life since I make my living creating on a screen. Being with nature is a value I prioritize and center in my time away from work.

It makes me happy in be in relationship with the natural beauty constantly evolving around me. Along with books and words, this is how I choose to learn about all the love that exists in the process of life, growth, death and decay.

I feel my healthiest and I learn the most about myself in this relationship. This truth is so kind and nourishing. It has always been free and abundantly available.
